ellen and mike's kinvara county galway engagement shoot
Ellen and Mike are getting married in July in Galway. Ellen is from Kinvara, so I suggested we do their engagement shoot there. I had always wanted to visit Kinvara as I had heard it was a picturesque West of Ireland village. Kinvara turned out to be a beautiful place for an engagement shoot! Ellen showed us a secret little place where her father used to take then when they were little. We hopped over the stone wall by Dunguaire Castle, where we found an old ruin of the original castle and lots of rocks with slippery seaweed. We scrambled up the hill to where there is a perfect spot with whitethorn growing and a romantic view of the castle. Can't wait for their wedding this summer!

aideen and mick's sweet keadeen hotel wedding during the heatwave of march 2012
At the very end of March 2012 during an Irish heatwave, Aideen and Mick got married at the Keadeen Hotel in Newbridge County Kildare. Their guests enjoyed the warm weather outside in the garden at the Keadeen. Spring flowers like tulips were in full bloom and it was a truly lovely afternoon for a wedding. The room looked great with a colourful tier of cupcakes from A Piece of Cake, and the kids eyed up the magnificent candy bar at the far end of the room. Thanks so much to Aideen and Mick for having me there to photograph their wedding and I wish you all mucho happiness in the future!

ilana and paul's perfect aussie and irish wedding at tulfarris house
Spring arrived in Ireland just in time for Ilana and Paul's wedding at Tulfarris House near Blessington County Wicklow. The weather was crisp, but nice enough for some drinks outside and some photos down at the lake. I had the fantastic photographer, Christine Burns, as a second shooter and I adore the black & white photos she got below. There were way too many beautiful details at this Aussie/Irish wedding (many guests had made the big trip over from Australia where Ilana and Paul live), and I hope to share more with you later at another time. I especially loved the girls little handmade shawls, green dresses, and beautiful country roses from Mary O'Gara. And Ilana's gorgeous lace dress and hair comb! And the Powder Room Girls did their hair and make-up just perfectly. All the best to Ilana and Paul and I wish you all the best in your new life in Oz together!

happy easter everyone!
Easter was one of my favourite holidays growing up in Pennsylvania. I loved going to my Grandma's to decorate eggs and to make our Easter tree with dyed hollow eggs. On Easter morning, dressed in our church clothes, we'd rush outside to see what the Easter bunny had left in the yard. From the photos above of us in the 70s, you'll see that Easter usually brings nice warm weather and sunshine.
I knew when I'd have kids here in Ireland, I'd most definitely be celebrating Easter American style. A big Cadbury egg is not enough! My mother sends us the Paas Easter egg dyes from the States (you can't buy them here), and we colour eggs at Nana's house. When I was little we always coloured white eggs, and in Ireland it has to be brown because I've never seen white eggs for sale here! Here are some pictures from last year of our Easter eggs and Easter tree, which will tell the Easter Bunny that there is a home full of children to leave chocolate for. After the tree is decorated, the kids wait patiently inside for the Easter bunny to drop treats...then rush outside with their baskets to find them! Happy Easter to everyone!
