1st day of school photographs....

I've been very lucky to be able to stay at home with my kids while they're young. Rowan, my oldest son started Montessori when he was two, and now Gavin the youngest will start too. Only a couple of days a week, but enough to give him something interesting to do and to give me some much needed time to develop and run my business.

Rowan has been excited for weeks about his little brother coming to school with him. Today was Gavin's first day. Do you have pictures from your first day of school?

Can't believe how time flies!

my glass covered chicken from Avoca, copy of Westmoreland Glass?

As some of you may know, I'm a very nostalgic gal. So when I spotted a Westmoreland Glass copy of a hen on a nest in milkglass, I knew I had to get it for our butter dish.

Of course, this one is new and probably made in China. Which is unlike the antique ones that were made at the Westmoreland Glass company near Greensburg, Pennsylvania where I grew up. I remember these little glass covered dishes in everyone's home when I was growing up! And you can get other covered animal dishes like Easter bunnies, dogs, and cats http://www.collectorsaddition.com/westmorelandglassmoulds.htm

Google Westomoreland Glass and you'll find lots of interesting finds like this http://westmorelandglassclub.org/modules/wfchannel/

my baby turned two...

I whipped up my favourite cake, a red velvet, for my little baby Gavin who just turned 2. And we celebrated with a little party in Tulla, County Clare at his grandparent's house. Time really does fly. My advice to any new parent is to take the time to enjoy the years when your children are young. It really goes by so quickly.

He wanted to wear his little birthday badge for a couple days after the big event! How sweet!

Learning how to drive his new scooter.

His older brother was a bit jealous that he didn't get to blow the candles out!

la la la la la springtime!

I love Spring! Especially this Spring because it's sunny and warm here in Ireland. There's no better time to get the macro lens out and take photos of nature at its finest! These flower photos were taken last week in my father-in-law's garden in Tulla, County Clare.

The natural thing is to take macro shots of flowers because you can really get in close with the lens. But it's equally great for taking shots of grubby chubby toddler legs!

All taken with a Canon 100mm 2.8 IS Macro.

got a new website! yay!

I've been working on a new website and it's live at http://www.lisaodwyerphotography.com/

This used to be my blog address, but now my blog is at http://lisa-odwyer.blogspot.com/

I'm a nostalgic sap so I used some of my favourite childhood pictures as inspiration.

I created the background with a business logo stamp I had made, and some handmade paper and real flowers from the garden. I then took a photo of everything, then tweaked in photoshop. I love how the photographs show up on the website like old 70s photos similar to the ones of mine from childhood. I realise the pink may be a bit girly, but it's me. I have the option to change it if I wish down the road. Anyway, it's a work in progress and I'm so proud I did it all by myself! I feel like I'm back in my art school days!
