This post is a little off topic, but I'd like to show you all how proud I am of my first real DIY adventure.
I bought our kitchen table and chairs off of an antiques dealer in the UK on Ebay a couple of years ago. I loved the superb quality and finish of the 1930s walnut set, and planned that I would re-cover the chair cushions myself. The poor chairs were really uncomfortable because the horsehair padding had sunk and the old yellow jacquard fabric was in a sorry state. Two babies came and needless to say there hasn't been much time for DIY. But in an inspirational moment, I found a video on YouTube showing how to re-ulpholster a chair, and I decided to head off to the Cath Kidston outlet at Kildare Village for fabric.
And I have to say it didn't turn out that bad and probably only took around 2 hours to finish. It's not perfect, but at least I can say I tried and make my naturally competent DIY Mommy and Daddy proud!
lovely work !
ReplyDeleteThey look great! Love the fabric. Will have to come visit for lunch to test them out :-)
ReplyDeleteThey are far from perfect, but heaps better than the original sagging ones!
