la la la la la springtime!

I love Spring! Especially this Spring because it's sunny and warm here in Ireland. There's no better time to get the macro lens out and take photos of nature at its finest! These flower photos were taken last week in my father-in-law's garden in Tulla, County Clare.

The natural thing is to take macro shots of flowers because you can really get in close with the lens. But it's equally great for taking shots of grubby chubby toddler legs!

All taken with a Canon 100mm 2.8 IS Macro.

got a new website! yay!

I've been working on a new website and it's live at http://www.lisaodwyerphotography.com/

This used to be my blog address, but now my blog is at http://lisa-odwyer.blogspot.com/

I'm a nostalgic sap so I used some of my favourite childhood pictures as inspiration.

I created the background with a business logo stamp I had made, and some handmade paper and real flowers from the garden. I then took a photo of everything, then tweaked in photoshop. I love how the photographs show up on the website like old 70s photos similar to the ones of mine from childhood. I realise the pink may be a bit girly, but it's me. I have the option to change it if I wish down the road. Anyway, it's a work in progress and I'm so proud I did it all by myself! I feel like I'm back in my art school days!

love amongst the ruins of quin abbey and tulla, county clare

Meet Claire and Cian, a sweet couple who live in Australia, but were recently in Ireland for the week. And they have an amazing connection. Cian is originally from Ennis, County Clare and Claire's ancestors who emigrated to Australia during the famine, were from Tulla. Tulla is only 15 minutes from Ennis! (and it's where my husband is from!)

So when Claire contacted me through One Fab Day, an Irish wedding blog, I convinced her and Cian do a little engagement session in the Banner County that connects their love...County Clare.

We were super lucky to have a beautiful, warm evening in Tulla, Quin Abbey, and at Brendan and Siobhan's thatch-roofed cottage near Tulla (friends of my mother-in-law who kindly lent us the cottage for the shoot).
Enjoy!

gift-wrapping client albums...

Part of my wedding photography package includes a hard cover magazine style "proof" album of all of the days photos. Couple can use this album to choose the photos which will go into their larger keepsake albums, or even carry them along to show friends and family their wedding day. I've been searching for nice packaging or boxes to present the albums in, but didn't find anything I particularly felt was pretty and unique. Then I found the combination of nice lace hand-made paper, hand-dyed and crinkled shabby-chic ribbons, hand-made gift-tags with vintage imagery, and linen tote-bags with old postcard images. I think it all comes together very nicely to present a couple with their albums.
